For over a quarter of a century, Eyehategod have carried the torch for the metal culture of New Orleans, sharing stages with the likes of Pantera, Goatwhore and Crowbar. And in two and a half decades, they’ve helped define the NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) sound: downtuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the demonic screams of Mike Williams over a thundering rhythm section.

It’s impossible to describe New Orleans sludge outfit Eyehategod without using the term “legendary.” – Exclaim

But that 26 years hasn’t been without its troubles. The band went on hiatus in the late 90s as its members focused on other projects – Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and Soilent Green – before reconvening for Confederacy of Ruined Lives in 2000 But everything got harder after that: Hurricane Katrina wrecked much of their hometown in 2005, and in the aftermath its membership fought through addiction, incarceration, probation and the death of founding drummer Joey LaCaze.

Eyehategod are sludge, and sludge is Eyehategod. There is no way around it. – Cvlt Nation

It’s been a long time between riffs, but Eyehategod emerged on the other side stronger and more determined than ever before. Their self-titled fifth album – the first in 14 years – is an exclamation mark on an already storied career, a statement of rebirth, catharsis, self-preservation and a sign of things to come. This November, Southern Discomfort makes its way to New Zealand.

This was a band built on a narrative about doing the opposite of what it thought people wanted: playing slow and messy music in a fast and virtuosic time, the 1980s speed-metal moment. Now, it’s hard to understand it any other way than an act of refined generosity. – New York Times

Wolves In the Throne Room - Wgtn / Akld @ Valhalla | Wellington | New Zealand

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM re-imagine black metal as an ode to rain storms, wood smoke and the wild energies of the Pacific Northwest. Their first studio album, Diadem of 12 Stars (2006) was a genre-dissolving classic that created a melancholy and psychedelic Cascadian atmosphere.

Since that time, Wolves In The Throne Room have become one of the most potent and highly regarded bands in extreme music. The listener encounters crystalline metal riffs and ritualistic laments that sing of endless rain falling upon ancient cedars. Their music is a doorway into a mythic ethereal heathen landscape entered through music, magic and dreams.

Now with their latest offering in THRICE WOVEN, a portal into the dreamworld of Wolves in the Throne Room opens again with a glorious return to the blazing and furious Black Metal that they alone can create!

King Parrot NZ Tour - Wellington @ Third Eye Music NZ | Christchurch | New Zealand

Like a pitch fork to the skull King Parrot are ready to tear through your eyes, ears and brain once again with their 3rd full length release Ugly Produce. A step-up in every sense, the reckless Aussies have topped themselves with another savagely brutal LP; a ten-track feast of distinctively punishing and powerful anthems veined deeply in the extreme underground sound.

Never the band to shy away from their roots and the scene that gave birth to them, King Parrot are forever on a mission to take this depraved, insidious wrecking machine to audiences around the globe. Their unique over the top sound is ever prevalent and honed further on ‘Ugly Produce’ while remaining true to the fundamental ideals the band started with; Angst, Aggression, Absurdity and Antics.

After recording 2015’s Dead Set in the US, 2017 saw the band head back home to where it all began – recording their third full-length album with Blood Duster’s Jason PC, at the enigmatic Goatsound Studios. Ugly Produce reaches new heights in abrasive song-writing and serves up an odious pile of repulsive flavours you wouldn’t want to find on your local fruit and vegetable shelves. A repugnant harvest of the band’s gnarled and nasty fusion of grind, death metal, thrash, and punk rock having become more caustic than ever.

King Parrot have evolved into a fully-fledged touring and creative force barely stopping for a breath since their inception on the international metal scene in 2013. Tour after tour with the likes of Soulfly, Obituary, Down, Cattle Decapitation, Exodus, Superjoint, Voivod and their own headlining tours in Australia, the band are now hardened road warriors. King Parrot possess a rare and deep hunger for the raucous and off the wall live shows that they’ve become revered for. These outings fuel the creative drive within the band to compose only the most angst-driven and vile expressions to ensure maximum involvement from audiences that lap up every frantic beat, chainsaw riff and psychotic scream. Ugly Produce is a testament to the blood, sweat and tears poured into everything King Parrot does.

Coming to NZ for three shows in December

Christchurch 13th December – Club Tavern
Auckland 14th December – Whammy Bar
Wellington 15th December – Valhalla
