Decades – The Truth And Other People

Christchurch based band, Decades, has finally released their ear-tingling album “The Truth and Other People” and just like the band members themselves, the album is funky as anything, and I can guarantee you won’t hear anything as unique as this. A four piece band consisting of Emma Cameron (Vox/Guitar), Liam Muir (Guitar), Daniel Perry (Drums) and Curtis Booth (Bass) this is their first album as the band Decades.

Several years ago they were playing together as ‘Ashei’ but after realizing it was either make or break, they went on to change their sound, up their tempo and work alongside Tom Larkin from Shihad.

Their 10 track album, “The Truth and Other People” was released on Thursday 14th July, and I have been blasting it since then. If you’ve been listening to The Rock then you may have already heard “I Was With Him” or perhaps you’ve seen the music video for it that was shot at Jim Beam Homegrown 2017. If you haven’t yet, check out their YouTube channel which includes that video along with “Get Me Home” and “If It Kills Me” all of which feature on the album.

But it doesn’t stop there, their track “Terrified” has a rather addictive guitar riff and when “The Truth” starts off and you may find yourself already grooving within the first second. “Empty Words” has a deep and meaningful backing where many people could probably relate that most of the world just talk ‘Empty Words’ and nothing comes of it. If you’re one to constantly make mistakes, and then you find yourself making “The Right Mistake” then this track might actually give you a boost up and feel-good.

All in all, this album, along with many other Kiwi artists, make this country and myself proud for what we can produce.

Decades are still on their “All Our Truths” tour and you can check them out with Skinny Hobos, Bakers Eddy and Dead Favours here:
